In May, the international film festival, dedicated to short films, is back in the old town of Pietrasanta.
The event, organized by Mondo Cinema, is a competition which aims to give visibility and raise awareness of emerging authors and / or little known to the general public.
The works participating in the contest, are both from Italy and from abroad, they will be evaluated by a highly qualified triple jury made by experts and filmmakers, film critics and professors of national and international renown: Professor Valerio Caprara as Jury President, film critic Claudio Carabba, writer and screenwriter Giampaolo Simi and Rai 2 curator of Televisions series Fabrizio Zappi. In addition to these juries there is also Dr. Germana Bianco, an expert in training, production and promotion in the audiovisual field. Among the selected works, the technical jury and popular jury will choose the winners of the various awards. The judgment will be announced during the evening of the final broadcast.
The themes for the competition are: Free theme, Comedy, Animation and Game.
The intent is to have a global vision of contemporary cinematography, highlighting both the works of Italian and foreign authors and paying particular attention to those young authors aged up to 35 years, who will present their first work.
These are the 2017 awards:
Prize City of Pietrasanta, attributed by the technical jury. The prize consists of a sculpture made by the artist Donatella Fogante from the region Marche and depicting the horse of the chess game.
Mondo Cinema Award, offered by the founder of the Foundry, Cav. Adolfo Adolini and consisting of a bronze bas-relief made with the old technique of lost wax. The original model was created by Sculptor Marcello Giorgi and represents the ancient plant of the city of Pietrasanta.
Prize Seventh Art, consisting of a sculpture offered by Commendatore Franco Barattini, owner of the Michelangelo quarries and realized by the sculptor Luciano Massari, Director of the Academy of Fine Arts of Carrara, teacher of sculpture and artistic director at the "Cave Michelangelo" art studios.
Jury Prize awarded to the work that will receive the highest popularity among popular jurors. Other special mentions.
The Pietrasanta Film Festival enjoys the patronage and sponsorship of Mibact, the Embassy of Mexico, the Tuscany Region, the Province of Lucca, the City of Pietrasanta, the City of Viareggio and Camaiore.
