Date:
typology: festival
Area: Piana di Lucca
District/Locality: Lucca (LU) - Italy

The second of the two meetings called “Incontri di primavera”, scheduled for Saturday May 20 at 18:00 at the Luigi De Servi room in the San Micheletto Complex, is dedicated to Hugh Honour, an English art historian and writer, in occasion of the donation of the  bibliography, archive and photography fund Honour-Fleming at the Ragghianti Foundation.

The meeting will be introduced by President Giorgio Tori and Director Paolo Bolpagni, with the contribution of Fernando Mazzocca, art historian and curator, formerly professor at the Ca 'Foscari University in Venice and at the University of Milan, and of Carl Brandon Strehlke, emeritus conservator of the Philadelphia Museum of Art, author of numerous essays and curator of exhibitions about Italian fifteenth century art.
In addition, the antiquarian Valter Fabiani from Lucca will share his longtime experience.

Hugh Honour, who lived in Tofori in the hills of Lucca from the 1960s, was one of the world's leading experts of Antonio Canova and Neoclassicism, but also an extraordinary character, maybe the last witness of the Anglo-Saxon tradition of aristocrats, amateurs and intellectuals that created the myth of the Grand Tour.
