IL GENIO IN OPERA - Raffaello e Tiziano

typology: cinema, festival
Area: Piana di Lucca
District/Locality: Lucca (LU) - Italy

In the line traced by Carlo Ludovico Ragghianti, theorist and pioneer of the use of the audiovisual medium as a tool to illustrate the work of art and the creative process that generates it, a series of high quality documentaries is proposed, to whose realization they contributed international art historians and prestigious museums and research institutions.

The cycle of projections focuses on a specific format, with a total duration of one hour, with projections to which international art historians and prestigious museums and research institutions have contributed.
Each appointment explores the work of an artist to illustrate the path and the biography, from cultural education to influences, analyzing the technical choices, the relationships with the client and the political, social and cultural events of the time.

The protagonists of this exceptional audiovisual journey are Tiziano and Raffaello, Michelangelo, Monet and Toulouse-Lautrec, Van Gogh and Gauguin, Matisse and Picasso.

Scheduled Saturday, January 13, at 17:30 at salone dell'Arcivescovato - Visions between painting and literature: Ritraendo Baldassar Castiglione” and "Il concerto campestre", two films dedicated respectively to Raffaello Sanzio and Tiziano Vecellio, two protagonists of the Renaissance, who have influenced with their style the successive artistic generations. The first, born in Urbino in 1483, representative of that cultural and artistic climate that has in design the pivotal tool of the creative process, which emanated from Florence in the rest of Europe; the other, Tiziano, a "colorist" paladin who elected Venice as a place of residence and work, far from the influences of Rome and open to the East.

The documentary on Raffaello takes inspiration from the friendship of the artist Urbino with Baldassarre Castiglione, and from the portrait dedicated to him, to illustrate the master's work, his artistic relationships, the philosophy and art of the period. The link with the maestro-colleague Giorgione and the lively cultural atmosphere of Venice are instead the references from which the original documentary on Titian begins.
